Division 2: We played a good old fashioned derby match against Ballinaglera on Saturday evening in front of a big crowd in the park. Playing with the breeze in the first half we started well & had points from Brian Mulvey, Danny Egan (2) and Alan Wynne in the opening 10 minutes. James Flynn added a point before Enda McGuire opened Ballinaglera’s account on 12 minutes. Nicholas Moore & Enda McGuire swapped points before Damian McGourty pointed for the visitors leaving it 0-06 to 0-03 after 20 minutes. Martin Raftery struck from play & Danny Egan slotted over a free to extend the lead. James Flynn then hit 2 lovely points from play in the 24th & 27th minutes as Enda McGuire with a free had the last score of the half to leave us leading 0-10 to 0-04 at the break. Ballinaglera opened brightly in the second period with the aid of the breeze pointing through Enda McGuire, Colm Maguire & Seamie McMorrow (2) to reduce the deficit. We then struck for a goal when Shane Beirne was on hand to scramble home. Anton McGourty replied with a point for the visitors but Nicholas Moore shot 3 quick fire points to put us in control again with 15 minutes remaining. However Ballinaglera were now dominant in the middle of the field and staged a recovery with Fergal Wynne pointing from play and Seamie McMorrow converting a penalty to narrow the gap. Danny Egan pointed a free on 54 minutes for our last score. Ballinaglera added points immediately from Padraig Clark & Fergal Wynne. Fergal Wynne then kicked a long range free in the last minute for the final score of the match. According to my notes & other spectators we had a point to spare but the only scoreline that mattered was that of the referee who had it level at 1-13 apiece. The game should benefit both teams with the championship just around the corner.

Leo Kenny Cup: We had a good win over Drumkeerin last Tuesday evening in Drumkeerin on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-07 and now meet Corofin in the semi final on Tuesday (22nd) in Ballyhaunis. Good luck to the team and management.

02/06/14

Niall Higgins Tournament: The Annual Niall Higgins Tournament took place on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon in the park and it was great to see our own U-14’s emerge victorious defeating a gallant Geevagh side in the final. We played Kiltubrid in the opening game and after an exciting encounter won 1-10 to 1-02. The fine young Kiltubrid team then put it up to a physically stronger Geevagh outfit losing out 4-07 to 0-06. Unfortunately Drumkeerin were a no show on the day which meant that the Allen Gaels v Geevagh match was the Final with the home side running out winners 6-06 to 3-06. A big thank you to Kiltubrid and Geevagh for taking part and to referees Noel Heron & Cyril McKeon. Many thanks to everyone who helped out on the day especially Mary Beirne, Ann Flood, Mary Jo Monaghan, Geraldine Moran & Mairead Higgins who catered for the teams, mentors & supporters. Thanks to the Club Bord na nOg in particular Cyril McKeon, Patrick McManus, Noel Beirne & Gareth Smith for organising the event, to Hubert McCormack and of course a big thank you to the Higgins Family for their support.

Division 2: We ran out comfortable winners over Mohill’s second string on Sunday morning on a scoreline of 3-18 to 0-05. We led 2-07 to no score after 17 minutes with our goals coming from Nicholas Moore & Shane Walsh. It was 2-11 to 0-02 at the break and we added 1-07 in the second period to secure a brace of league points. It’s hard to read too much into this performance but it was pleasing that 3-16 was scored from play in the last league game before the championship however it was very disappointing to see that Glencar Manorhamilton conceded their match which now means that scoring difference will not be a factor in this division. Scorers: Nicholas Moore (1-04), James Flynn (1-02), Shane Walsh (1-01), Martin Beirne (0-04), Ryan Higgins (0-03), Brian Mulvey (0-02), Alan Wynne (0-01), Martin Raftery (0-01). We play Bornacoola at home on Saturday at 7pm in Division 3 just a week before the 2 clubs meet in the senior championship in Carrigallen.

Parents please note that the Kellogg’s GAA Cul Camp takes place in Drumshanbo from July 7-11th this year. Online booking has now commenced and is available through the Leitrim GAA Website.

26/05/14

Division 2: We recorded an important win on Sunday morning away to Glencar Manorhamilton on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-18. The highlight of the match was a 12 point haul from Nicholas Moore & an outstanding display from David Wynne in a very hard fought game against a strong Manor second string. It was tit for tat all through the opening half with the sides level after the first quarter 0-05 apiece our scores coming from Nicholas Moore (0-03) and Brian Mulvey (0-02). We added points from Ryan Higgins, James Flynn & Nicholas (0-02) but a goal from the home side just before the interval left it 1-07 to 0-09 at the break.  The same pattern continued in the third quarter with the sides exchanging points and we were level 1-11 to 0-14 after 50 minutes with Nicholas scoring 5 frees in that time. Manorhamilton hit the front on 53 minutes but we responded with 4 great points from play in the last 5 minutes from James Flynn, Nicholas (0-02) and Martin Beirne to take the spoils. Team & scorers: Diarmuid McKiernan, Adrian Sorohan, Mark Gunning, Ciaran Mattynnsenns, Shane Walsh, David Wynne, Jason Loftus, Alan Wynne, Brian Moran, Brian Mulvey (0-02), Nicholas Moore (0-12), Martin Beirne (0-01), Bryan Beirne, Ryan Higgins (0-01), James Flynn (0-02). Tim Mannion: It was with deep sadness that we learned of Tim Mannion’s passing on Friday last at the age of 87. Tim was a great community man through his involvement with Comhaltas &the Fire Brigade and a wonderful supporter of Allen Gaels throughout his lifetime where he served as club president for well over 20 years. Indeed his presidential address at the AGM was always a particular highlight. Tim played with Aughnasheelin before the club became fully established in Drumshanbo but once it did he became a key figure in the GAA in the town. He was held in great affection by young and old with his words of encouragement to players and positive attitude a breath of fresh air. This was all encapsulated in his memorable turn of phrase which always brought a smile. The Club performed a Guard of Honour at the Church on Sunday afternoon and a minute’s silence was observed before the Division 2 game on Monday as a mark of respect. To the Mannion Family we extend deepest condolences on their sad loss. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.

Division 2: We overcame Dromahair on Bank Holiday Monday morning 1-08 to 0-09 in a game played in very wet & windy conditions in the park. With wind assistance in the first half we led 1-06 to 0-03 at the break with Nicholas Moore (0-03), Ryan Higgins, Martin Beirne and Martin Raftery all on target however it was a goal from Alan Wynne in the 29th minute that proved decisive. With the strong wind at their backs in the second half Dromahair dominated proceedings for long spells and it took 2 excellent saves from Diarmaid McKiernan between the posts to keep us ahead. Ryan Higgins & Thomas Mulvey scored points from play in the second period as we always stayed a few points up despite pressure from the visitors in the closing stages. Team & scorers: Diarmaid McKiernan, Kyle Flynn, Mark Gunning, Ciaran Mattynnsenns, Shane Beirne, David Wynne, Adrian Sorohan, Thomas Mulvey (0-01), Alan Wynne (1-00), Bryan Beirne, Nicholas Moore (0-03), Martin Beirne (0-01), Dylan McGowan, Ryan Higgins (0-02), Martin Raftery (0-01). Subs: Shane Walsh for D. McGowan (inj 5 mins), Nathan Flynn for C. Mattynnsenns.

Daithi has given great service to the club in a variety of roles especially in his work at the park and of course as senior team manager for the last three years. We all extend every good  wish to Daithi and Laura in their new life together. Division 2: We came out the right side of a very tight encounter in Glenfarne on Saturday evening winning on a scoreline of 1-12 to 2-08. U-16 Boys Champions: The U-16’s rounded off the year in style with a great victory in the 13 a side final against Fenagh St. Caillians in Kiltubrid on Saturday on a scoreline of 5-08 to 1-12. This was a great team performance with everyone playing a full part in a display of hard work, determination and no little skill. The conditions were difficult with driving wind & rain for most of the game but despite that both teams served up a high scoring thriller. We scored 2-03 either side of half time and that proved the difference in the end. Niall McGourty made a couple of great saves and his kick outs were first class in the conditions. The defence, led by both Kevin Morans, Jason Tuite, Ryan Crawford, Calum Moore and substitutes Aaron McCawley & Shane McGrenaghan was excellent throughout and limited the scoring opportunities of an impressive Fenagh forward line. Alan McTigue & Jack Ozdobinski worked tirelessly in the middle of the park supporting defence & attack. Upfront, Wayne Reynolds, Caleb Duffy, Gareth Higgins, Sean McGourty & Ciaran Walsh all contributed to create and finish a winning total. So well done to all the lads & to the management team of Mickey & Ciara McTigue who put in a huge effort with the players this year. There were great celebrations back in the clubhouse afterwards and many thanks to Battie & Jacqui Gibbons for catering for everyone and a special thank you to Fiona McKiernan & Kathleen Reynolds for their help. The club would also like to thank the parents who travelled to the games all year to support the team and it’s great to have some silverware to show for all the work this season.

U-21 Championship: We lost out to St. Manachan’s in the opening round of the championship in Fenagh on Saturday. The final score was 0-17 to 1-04 with Nicholas Moore 1-02, Nathan Flynn 0-01 & Shane Walsh 0-01 our marksmen. St. Manachan’s were deserving winners and will take some beating in this grade. Commiserations to the players & to the management team of Kevin Nolan & Thomas Cornyn.

Div 2: We defeated Leitrim Gaels in our last league game of the season on Sunday in Leitrim Village on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-07. The home side pointed a first minute free before Martin Beirne found the back of the net in the 4th minute with a fisted effort. Ryan Higgins & James Flynn added points to leave us in a good position at the end of the opening quarter. Leitrim Gaels clipped over 2 points in quick succession but we finished the half the stronger with points from Brian Mulvey & James Flynn (2) leaving the half time score 1-05 to 0-03. The hosts were first on the board after the interval with a point from play but a brace from Martin Beirne, one a cracking effort from the wing, put us back in control. James Flynn added a fine point as did Martin with just a single point in reply from Leitrim Gaels. James Flynn then ended the contest with a really well taken goal to leave us 2-09 to 0-05 ahead. The home side added 2 points before Martin Beirne completed the scoring with another point from play. Team & scorers: Diarmaid McKiernan, Michael McGovern, Adrian Sorohan, David Wynne, Ciaran Matthynssens, Alan Wynne, Martin Raftery, Thomas Mulvey, Derek McGourty, James Flynn (1-04), Sean McGourty, Ryan Higgins (0-01), Nicholas Moore, Brian Mulvey (0-01), Martin Beirne (1-04). Subs: Emmet Burke for N. Moore. Well done to the lads on a fine display although 3 drawn matches earlier in the season probably cost us promotion which we missed by a single point.  Congratulations to Aughnasheelin & Drumkeerin who are now promoted to Division 1. The club would like to sincerely thank the outgoing management team of David McGourty, Larry Burke & Sean Wynne who put in a huge voluntary effort over the past couple of seasons with the players. Their commitment & dedication to the cause deserved a better return but definite progress has been made under their guidance so many thanks to the 3 lads.

Division 3: We managed to get a team together for a third game in 24 hours but were well beaten by Dromahair on a scoreline of 1-13 to 0-02. Nevertheless well done to all the lads for a great team effort against the odds. That completes the programme of adult matches for the season so a big thank you to all the players for their commitment throughout the season and they can now enjoy a break over the winter months.

U-16 Boys: The lads defeated Leitrim Gaels at home on Friday evening last on a scoreline of 3-16 to 1-04 which puts us in the 13 a side final against Fenagh St. Caillians. This was a very good team performance with the goals coming from Wayne Reynolds (2) & Sean McGourty and leading 1-06 to 1-03 at the break we dominated the second half & were deserving winners.  We now have a tough task ahead in the final on November 2nd so best of luck to the lads & to the management team of Mickey & Ciara McTigue.

U-16 Girls: The girls season came to an end last Wednesday with defeat by St. Mary’s in Carrick. Well done to all involved during the season with many of the team winning the U-14 title earlier in the summer. Many thanks to Dermot McDonagh & Ann Flood for all their work with the girls this year.

Div 2: We defeated Fenagh St. Caillians in our last home game of the season on Sunday on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-07. The weather made conditions difficult but both teams served up an entertaining hour’s football. The visitors had the opening point in the first minute but Thomas Mulvey equalised 2 minutes later. Sean McGourty & Brian Mulvey then put us 2 points clear after 10 minutes before a couple of quick scores from Fenagh had the sides level at the end of the opening quarter. We finished the half strongly with a brace of points from play from Martin Beirne & a Brian Mulvey free had us 3 up but it took a great point blank save from Kevin Nolan to preserve the gap at the interval. Indeed the defence was excellent throughout with Adrian Sorohan, Ciaran Mattynnsenns, Shane Walsh, David Wynne & Mark Gunning all impressing and Derek McGourty & Thomas Mulvey on top at midfield. Martin & Brian pointed in the first 5 minutes after the break to put us in a commanding position with just a sole reply from the visitors. David Wynne was on hand on 37 minutes to finish a great team move with a lovely point however Kevin had to be on his toes again to smother a goal bound effort. Fenagh added 2 points in quick succession to reduce the gap but we replied instantly with a long range effort from Ryan Higgins. James Flynn made great work to convert a half chance in the 50th minute to leave the score 0-11 to 0-06. Fenagh piled on the pressure in search of a goal but found Kevin Nolan unbeatable between the posts with a third super save and the visitors final point clipped the cross bar before going over in the 53rd minute. Martin Beirne converted his fourth point from play and a Brian Mulvey free completed the scoring. Well done to the lads on a fine display, with our last match of the league this Sunday against Leitrim Gaels, although promotion remains unlikely depending on other results.  A minute’s silence was observed before last Sunday’s match in memory of Kalie Gill, who died tragically in New York 10 days ago and the Club extends deepest condolences to the Gill Family on their devastating loss.

Ladies League Final: St. Francis ladies lost out in the Div 2 Final on Friday night in Kiltubrid with a 6-16 to 5-13 defeat by St. Mary’s in a thrilling encounter. We started well with Ailish Cornyn finding the net twice in the opening 10 minutes & also missing a penalty. St. Mary’s responded and it took goal line clearances from Michelle Monaghan & Stephanie Reynolds to keep them at bay however they hit 5 points without reply before Aine Flood pointed in the 18th minute. Ciara McPartland struck a goal and a point to stretch our lead but the rest of the half belonged to the opposition as they struck 2-04 to leave the half time score 2-09 to 3-02. The scores kept coming after the interval as St. Mary’s hit 2-03 in the first 10 minutes of the half with Michelle & Emma Guckian again prominent before we replied with points from Ailish & Ciara (3) and a converted penalty by Ailish to cut the gap 4-12 to 4-06. St. Mary’s pulled away again with a 1-04 but we finished really strong with a flurry of scores in the final 10 minutes with points from Ailish (2), Ciara (2), Maeve Daly, Denise Sorohan and a goal from Aine Flood on 60 minutes to cut the lead to 3 points. However as we piled on the pressure in injury time we conceded a goal with the last play to leave the final tally 6-16 to 5-13. Well done to both sides for serving up such an entertaining game with 40 scores in total. We just came up short this year but the panel put in a great effort and with a lot of younger players coming through the future is bright. The team was: Michelle Monaghan, Lauren Beirne, Denise Sorohan (0-01), Emma Dunne, Stephanie Reynolds, Annette Reynolds, Tanya McPartland, Ailish Cornyn (3-03), Aine Flood (1-01), Ciara McPartland (1-07), Sarah Loughlin, Tara Scott, Ciara McTigue. Subs: Maeve Daly (0-01), Nicole McGovern , Lorraine Beirne, Mairead Flood, Aoife Barry, Aoife Gilmartin, Aideen McKiernan, Ciara Reynolds, Catherine Gilmartin. We wish Stephanie Reynolds a speedy recovery after she picked up a serious leg injury. Well done to the management team of Eamonn McGowan, Mary Beirne, Ray Duffy & Dessy Doyle. The club would like to thank Henry Sorohan for sponsoring a meal for the team & mentors after the game.

Division 2: We earned a share of the spoils in Drumkeerin on Sunday morning on a scoreline of 0-10 to 2-04. Both teams seemed to suffer from post championship syndrome in what was a poor game. We trailed 0-06 to 1-01 at the break with our goal from Nicholas Moore & a point from Martin Beirne. We were a little better in the second half and Diarmaid McKiernan hit 1-01 the goal from the penalty spot and Ciaran Mattynnsenns & Martin Beirne completed the scoring. We still have an outside chance of making the top two places but a big improvement will be needed. There is no game this weekend.

26/08/13

Senior Championship: We lost out in the senior quarter final against Carrigallen in Cloone last Saturday with a 0-09 to 0-08 defeat. We got a great start to lead 0-05 to no score but Carrigallen had the better of the exchanges after that and hung on for the victory. Well done luck to Daithi, Larry, Sean & the team for their efforts in the championship. Its back to league action this weekend with a home game against Drumkeerin in Division 2 on Sunday morning at 12noon.

U-14 Boys: The lads lost the 13 aside Final on Monday evening in Pairc Sean after an almighty battle with Melvin Gaels on a scoreline of 5-06 to 4-06. We had a disastrous start and trailed 3-01 to 0-02 after 10 minutes with our points from Cian Beirne & Aaron McAuley but we showed great bravery to get back into the match to just trail at the break by 3-05 to 2-05 with a further point from Cian and 2-02 from Caleb Duffy who expertly converted a penalty just before half time. Luke Tuite scored a fantastic goal immediately on the resumption and it was game on. Caleb added a point but we missed a few scorable chances to extend our lead. Melvin Gaels came back into the game and it was a very exciting contest. We led in the closing stages but an uncontested throw up led to a Melvin Gaels goal which was the decisive score. It was a hugely committed performance from the team and it took a string of brilliant saves from the opposition goal keeper to deny us victory.  Well done to Paddy, Stevie & Noel and the team. The lads had a very enjoyable trip to Croke Park on Sunday for the All Ireland Semi Final and thank you to all who helped out on the day.

Minor Championship: St. Francis were defeated by Glencar Manorhamilton in the Bee Park on Wednesday evening last on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-10. We now play Dromahair in the Shield on Wednesday (28th) evening at 7pm in Drumkeerin.

Senior Championship: All roads lead to Cloone on Saturday evening where we face a tough assignment against Carrigallen at 7pm in the quarter final. Best of luck to Daithi, Larry, Sean & the team. A good turnout of support would be appreciated.

U-14 Boys: The lads reached the final of the 13 aside championship with a 3-16 to 2-12 victory over Leitrim Gaels on Friday evening in Kiltubrid. This was a very impressive team display where we started well and never looked back. We raced into a 1-04 to 0-01 lead with a Cian Beirne goal and points from Caleb Duffy, Danny McLoughlin & Colin Moran. Leitrim Gaels rallied but an Aaron McAuley goal before the break put us in control. We added some wonderful scores in the second half and a brilliant Caleb Duffy goal ended the contest. It was a great performance with Enda Keegan in goals making a couple of super saves and the defence generally on top with David Gallagher, Shane McGrenaghan, Michael Crawford & Niall Morahan outstanding. Aaron McAuley & Fergal Gilmartin did well in the middle of the park as did substitutes Cormac Lynch, Daire McManus & Byron Tully to cap a fine team display. We now face Melvin Gaels in the final next Monday so please check for time and venue.  Best of luck to Paddy, Stevie & Noel and the team.

St. Francis Ladies: The ladies played Glencar Manorhamilton in the Intermediate Championship in Drumkeerin on Sunday and lost out on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-07. We trailed 2-06 to 1-03 at the break and despite a very brave second half Manorhamilton ran out deserving winners. We still have a league final to luck forward to so well done to Eamonn, Mary, Ray, Dessy & the team.

Minor Championship: St. Francis were defeated by St. Brigid’s on Wednesday last on a scoreline of 2-11 to 0-07. A goal for the visitors just before the break was crucial and gave them a 1-07 to 0-03 lead with Diarmaid McKiernan slotting 3 frees. We started the second half very brightly and 2 great points from play by Diarmaid gave us hope but a breakaway goal midway through the half ended the contest. We finished with points from Diarmaid & Wayne Reynolds.  The team was: Ross Williams, Kevin Moran, Padraig Clarke, Daniel Bohan, Kyle Flynn, Francie Bohan, Luke Bradley, John Crawford, Shane Walsh, Wayne Reynolds (0-01), Niall Sorohan, Seamus Sweeney, Gareth Higgins, Diarmaid McKiernan (0-06), Ciaran Walsh.  Exam Results: Congratulations to all the club members who received their results last week.

12/08/13

Junior Championship: We played Dromahair last weekend in the junior quarter final and were just pipped at the post with a late point giving Dromahair victory on a scoreline of 0-15 to 1-11. We led for much of the match but Dromahair had all the momentum in the last quarter and snatched the win. Well done to David, Larry & Sean & the panel on their performances.

Minor Championship: St. Francis began the minor championship campaign on Wednesday last away to Fenagh/Gortletteragh in Fenagh and after a very competitive hour’s football lost out by 1-17 to 1-11. The scoreline doesn’t reflect the closeness of the encounter as we led by a point entering the final 10 minutes but the physically more powerful opposition pulled away with a flurry of late scores. The teams were tied at the break 0-08 to 1-05 with our goal brilliantly taken by Wayne Reynolds. In truth we had limited possession but converted most of our chances and it was the same after the break as the defending champions dominated for long spells. However the lads can be proud of their efforts and we now face an equally tough task this week with a home game against St. Brigid’s on Wednesday evening at 7pm in Drumshanbo. The team was: Ross Williams, Kevin Moran, Padraig Clarke, Kyle Flynn, Luke Bradley, Alan McTigue, Shane Walsh (0-01), John Crawford, Eugene O’Rourke, Wayne Reynolds (1-02), Niall Sorohan, Seamus Sweeney, Gareth Higgins, Diarmaid McKiernan (0-08), Ciaran Walsh. Subs: Francie Bohan for G. Higgins, Daniel Bohan for C. Walsh, Kevin Moran, David Charles.

St. Francis Ladies: The ladies play Glencar Manorhamilton in the Intermediate Championship in Drumkeerin at 12:30 on Sunday. Best of luck to Eamonn, Mary, Ray, Dessy & the team. A good turnout of support would be appreciated.

Minor Ladies: The girls had an opening round win over Dromahair but lost out to St. Mary’s last week on a scoreline of 5-06 to 4-04. We have a bye this week.

U-14 Boys: The lads are in a semi final but no details to hand so please check with club officers. Best of luck to Paddy, Stevie & Noel and the team.

U-12 Girls: The girls had a good win over Kiltubrid last week and we play St. Mary’s at home this Thursday at 7pm. Good luck to Cyril, Ciara and the panel.

U-8’s/U-10’s : We played St. Mary’s in a blitz last Saturday morning in Carrick-on-Shannon. Many thanks to St. Mary’s for a very enjoyable workout. Coaching as usual this Saturday at 10:45am.

Community Family Event: The Club hosted a very successful family day on Bank Holiday Monday at the park with a huge crowd in attendance. The highlight of the afternoon was the presence of the Liam MacCarthy Cup which was the focus of great interest. The Club would like to sincerely thank Battie & Jacqui Gibbons and their staff in Centra who sponsored a free barbeque and refreshments for everyone and organised the attendance of the Cup. Thank you to the young hurlers from Ballinamore, Manorhamilton and Carrick-on-Shannon and their coaches for putting on a great display of hurling, many thanks to all the club members who helped out with catering and children’s events, thanks to Alan Foley & Aidan McKeon who took photographs and special thanks also to Paul Gibbons who provided musical  entertainment.

Senior Championship: We lost out against Annaduff on Sunday in Pairc Sean on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-08. We made a great start and played really well in the opening quarter but made too many mistakes after that  & faded out of the game. We still secured second place in the group and so qualified for the quarter final but will need massive improvement for that game with the draw to be made next weekend.

Junior Championship: We play Dromahair this weekend in the junior quarter final. Please check elsewhere for details of time and venue. Best of luck to David, Larry & Sean & the panel.

Minor Championship: We begin our minor championship campaign on Wednesday (7th) away to Fenagh/Gortletteragh in Fenagh at 7pm.

Community Family Event: On the Bank Holiday Monday (5th), the club will host a Family Fun Day in Shane McGettigan Park. The event is linked to Centra’s sponsorship of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship; Gibbon’s Centra Drumshanbo has teamed up with Allen Gaels to host this Centra GAA Community Event. The free family day taking place from 2-6pm is open to all and will showcase hurling skills with the Liam MacCarthy Cup present on the day. There will be a free BBQ & and children’s entertainment. The Club would like to thank the local community and surrounding areas for the great support offered earlier this year during the Mayoral Campaign and this event is open to all.

Senior Championship: We lost out against Glencar Manorhamilton on Saturday evening in Ballinamore on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-10. We trailed by just a point at the break 0-08 to 0-07 and showed lots of promise but just came up short. We have a crucial match against Annaduff this weekend.  Best of luck to the team & management David, Larry & Sean.  Please turnout in good numbers to support the lads.

St. Francis Ladies: The ladies had their first intermediate championship game of the summer against Annaduff on Sunday in Fenagh and the final score was 3-10 each. After winning by just a point earlier this year in the league it was sure to be another close encounter. It was a game that could have gone either way with both sides level at half time and level again at the final whistle. Annaduff were first to get a score scoring a penalty and 3 points before St.Francis got their first score of the game. It was an exciting second half with both teams battling it out to the very end with goals scored for either side and St.Francis getting a penalty. St.Francis were three points down with 5 minutes to go but with point by Ciara McTigue and Ailish Cornyn scoring two frees the sides were once again level for the full time whistle. Next game is against Manorhamilton with date yet to be confirmed. Well done to both team and management Eamonn, Mary, Ray & Dessy.
